Hear my Podcast at "unSeminary"
Last Friday I had a great time being interviewed by Rich Birch for a podcast being aired at his "unSeminary" in early January. Rich is Lead Team Member at Liquid Church in Manhattan and connects spiritual leaders with best-practices and resources that most of us wish we got in Seminary.
Rich interviewed me regarding the assimilation strategies we implemented at Eastside Christian Church in Anaheim after we were listed as the 11th fastest growing church in the U.S. by Outreach Magazine 2 years ago. Believe me, we have had a lot of people to connect to God and each other as a result of that growth. I shared with Rich the assimilation challenges in connecting people from almost 2000 new connection cards that year, and the strategies I helped design to overcome those challenges that resulted in:
1 out 3 getting baptized
1 out of 2 getting in a connection group (almost/45%)
1 out of 7 graduating from our discipleship training
1 out of 7 becoming a volunteer
1 out of 14 going on a compassion trip overseas
1 out of 20 becoming a leader
All this took place in a 12 month period and I was astounded at what God did among us. I want to share some of these strategies with you along with some new learnings this January. Here are 2 ways you can get in on it:
1. Listen to my podcast interview at unSeminary. Rich Birch uses unSeminary to give fresh ideas and tools for communications, strategizing, personal productivity, and multi-site. This 20m podcast will give you an overview of some of what we do at Eastside and a couple ideas and resources for helping connect new people at your church to God and each other. Subscribe to unSeminary here to receive a link to the podcast when it airs.
2. Join me January 14-15 at Eastside for "Climbing the Assimilayas". I am eager to meet with you and others who serve new people at local churches in areas like small groups, guest relations, volunteering, spiritual formation and other ministries that help assimilate guests at your church. The early registration rate ends this Friday December 18th so sign up soon. This gathering will give you fresh vision, focus and direction for your ministry in 2016.
Praying for a powerful year for you as you connect people to the spiritual resources God has for them in your church.
